Small Groups

What are Fellowship Groups?

Fellowship Groups are small groups (whether you are new or a 5th year) designed to enjoy and embody Jesus through eating together, talking about the gospel and our lives together, and praying together on Tuesday evenings.  It is to be a safe place where thoughts, fears, struggles, and sin can be shared, and students can encourage each other in the gospel.

Why Fellowship Groups?

Because fellowship is a means of grace and God created us for relationships.  During creation God said "it is not good for man to be alone," and Ecclesiastes states "a cord of three strands is not quickly broken."  Because of our busy lives and crazy schedules, we need a weekly time of intentional discussion, prayer, and encouragement.  And there is nothing more encouraging and humbling than peers ministering to each other!

What if I am looking for a more in-depth Bible Study or time of learning?

Despite what you may think, fellowship groups will be a rich time of Scriptural interaction.  RUF believes Scripture is our authority for everyday life and so all our group discussions will reflect that belief no matter what subject the group is discussing.  Also, you will be surprised by how much you learn when hearing the thoughts and insights of others and hearing what God is doing in their lives.  This Fall all groups will be going through Tim Keller's "Gospel Christianity" study.

What do we do?

Fellowship groups will meet three times a month on Tuesday nights for discussion and prayer.  The fourth Tuesday night (or another night if it works better) the group will do something outside of normal discussion and prayer time like watch a movie, game night, carve pumpkins, play dodgeball, cook a meal, etc.

Where and When?

Tuesday Nights*, this semester we are studying the Book of John

*If you have a conflict on Tuesdays, please email me (jcraft@ruf.org) or talk to someone on staff.  We are open to having groups meet at other times!
